3 Modules #116: Maths, Plaits, Stages

Playing with creating a longer sequence by “multiplying“ two smaller sets of steps. Patch notes: Stages is set up to produce two stepped sequences, which both control the pitch of Plaits’ notes in such a way that the end result is a 9-step sequence: The first sequence is patched to the V/Oct input, and for every full cycle (i.e. every third step) it advances the secondary sequence by one, which shifts Plaits’ base frequency via the FM CV input. To clock the first sequence, I’ve set Maths’ ch. 4 to cycle and I’m using the EOC as a clock signal. I’m using the envelope output from this channel to control the amplitude of the notes via Plaits’ Level input. Maths’ ch. 1 is also set to cycle, and this controls both Plaits’ Timbre (which is the pitch of a synced square wave in this mode) as well as the *entire CV level* of step three in the secondary step sequence. In other words, we can get some wild FM in steps 7-9 of the full sequence. The primary sequence also controls the frequency of this modulation, but manually twisting the Rise and Fall knobs to go from LFO to audio rate still makes a big difference. At the more extreme settings it almost sounds like multiple sound sources intertwined. * * * Thanks for watching! :) Feel free to request upcoming module combinations from my rack, and check out the #3modulechallenge for more 3 module patches! ➢ Series overview: ➢ Modulargrid: ➢ ➢ Support the channel by buying some music via
