The brain stem controls autonomic functions such as blood pressure, cardiac activity and respiration. The cerebellum controls automatic learnt functions such as writing, walking and riding a bike. The cerebrum is the upper part of the brain and makes up the cerebral hemispheres. The cerebral cortex is the outer layer of the cerebrum and is concerned with functions such as thinking, movement, sensation and vision.
