Frank Farian Of Boney M.: The Hit Man [Compilation]

Frank Farian (real name Franz Reuter) was born 1941 in Germany. He released his first single in 1963 but struggled for more than 10 years to achieve his commercial breakthrough as a singer. “You are not a teenie idol or a natural performer,“ he was finally told by his record label. “Maybe you should produce other artists instead?“ By early 1976 Farian at last found success with his own Rocky, Gilla’s Tu es! and Benny’s Amigo Charlie Brown all reaching Top 10 in Germany. At the same time a single Farian had recorded under the pseudonym Boney M. in December 1974 was starting to take off. Baby Do You Wanna Bump reached the Dutch charts and a group was needed to promote it. Liz Mitchell, Marcia Barrett, Maizie Williams and Bobby Farrell were assembled. Daddy Cool followed soon after, and Boney M. became a phenomenal success with several hit-singles and albums. It was always a public secret that Farian sang the deep male voice that Bobby Farrell personified on stage. Farian could also sing in a high-pitched falsetto voice and often blended this with Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett’s multilayered vocals. On some songs like Bye Bye Bluebird and Eye Dance, he even duetted with himself, singing in two different voices. This compilation showcases the Boney M. tracks where Farian’s vocals took centre stage. 00:00 Baby Do You Wanna Bump (1975) 03:40 Help Help (1976) 07:20 Gloria, Can You Waddle (1977) 11:16 Dancing In The Streets (1978) 15:15 Bye Bye Bluebird (1979) 20:05 Oceans Of Fantasy (1979) 25:30 Ride To Agadir (1981) 30:42 Breakaway (1981) 35:03 Dizzy (With Sandy Davis, 1984) 38:53 I’m Alive (1985) 42:58 Sample City (1985) 46:40 Eye Dance (1985) 50:45 Dreadlock Holiday (1987) 55:08 Running Man (Frankie’s On The Run) (2015) - video upload powered by
