The 7 Eleven Dunk That Could Have Been

Happy 711 Day 2021 Four years ago I dreamt up an unlikely collaboration between Nike and 7 Eleven. Inspired by the Nike SB dunks of the early aughts, I designed and ordered a custom pair of shoes from Nike dedicated to the convenience store I frequented between skate sessions in my youth. In February of 2020 I decided it was finally time to properly document the shoes, but I knew they required a shoe box that could properly elevate them beyond a commercially available product. I started work on building, painting, and weathering the sets and props necessary to make this short video. One month later I was interrupted by a large scale world event that would become a significant obstacle for the rest of the production. Mid 2020, the two brands in question announced that they were planning to pair for their own collaboration, ironically the exact collaboration I had envisioned. Unfortunately their plans were short lived, as they ultimately cancelled the shoe with no media roll out. I didn’t cancel mine though... so here you have it: The 7-Eleven Dunk that could have been.
