The city with the longest NHS waiting list in the country

Rishi Sunak pledged in January last year that he would bring down the NHS waiting list. Well, every month since then, that waiting list has gotten longer And in no place in England is that problem more acute than where I am now in Southend, where it’s estimated some 20% of the population are on the waiting list. If you picked any five random people in this city, chances are, one of them is waiting for surgery. So why is this happening, but more importantly what does it mean for the day-to-day lives of those waiting. Welcome to a town with a sickness.
