江戸時代に江戸大伝馬町のビイドロ屋がガラスの表面に彫刻を施したのが始まり。成形ガラスに文様を切り込むことを特徴としており、現在でも昔ながらの手作業によりコップ、皿鉢、花器、文具等が製作されている。 Edo-kiriko or faceted glassware originated in the Edo period, when a glass maker in Odenma-cho practised a unique glass cutting technique on his glassware. Edo-kiriko is characterized by the beautiful combinations of various facet patterns applied on the glass surface.
