Chopin’s Favorite Composer / Compositions

Frederic Chopin and his favorite composers and compositions... For the video, I tried to choose recordings close to Chopin’s aesthetic. For example, the singers come from the tradition of opera singers whom Chopin loved (they sing much softer than the known opera singers, they had different techniques in many ways). Some of the pianists are indirectly connected to Chopin. For example, pianists such as Mieczysław Horszowski, Ignaz Friedman, and Ignace Tiegerman studied with Theodor Leschetizky, and Leschetizky heard Chopin’s piano playing and befriended Chopin’s students or Wanda Landowska is a student of Aleksander Michałowski, who studied with Chopin’s pupils.
