It was written in 1841, to the tune of the Austrian Imperial Anthem “Gott Erhalte Franz den Kaiser“. Today, only the third verse is sung. DEUTSCH: Das Lied der Deutschen, auch Deutschlandlied genannt, wurde von August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben am 26. August 1841 auf Helgoland gedichtet. Es ist die Nationalhymne von Deutschland. FRANÇAIS: Das Deutschlandlied (Le Chant de l’Allemagne) est un chant dont le troisième couplet a été l’hymne national de la république fédérale d’Allemagne, avant de devenir depuis 1990 celui de l’Allemagne réunifiée. Les paroles en ont été composées par l’écrivain August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben en 1841 et la musique vient de l’hymne impérial autrichien de Joseph Haydn datant de 1797.
