Russian money in Switzerland - About business, loopholes in legislation and money laundering

Film director Christophe Franzen traveled through Russia and Switzerland with questions: What kind of Russian money comes to Switzerland and who are its owners? When are money dirty and when are they clean? And how are they “laundered”? What has changed for Russian clients after the war in Ukraine? All this is very difficult. Russia is one of the most corrupt countries in Europe. However, Swiss law enforcement authorities must cooperate with Russian authorities if they want to prove the illicit origin of the funds. In addition, according to critics, there is still an industry that is busy hiding the origins of money. “We are always two or three steps ahead of the authorities,” says a banking insider. And a specialist journalist sums it up: “Switzerland capitulated to Russia.” When it came to some sensitive Russian funds, everyone would look the other way.
