The Swiss Andy Hug competed in the Zurich Hallenstadion in his home country of Switzerland, against the Croatian Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic, whom he defeated after 5 rounds by winning on points. It was the farewell fight of the popular martial artist, who wanted to launch a career as an actor afterwards. Nobody suspected that this goodbye, as it was also written on the flyer, was a farewell forever. On August 17, 2000, Hug wrote a letter to the public, informing them that he had contracted leukemia. He asked his fans for moral support to fight together against this disease. Andy Hug fell into a coma on August 23 and died one day later, on Thursday August 24, 2000.
