JET - 40 years making fusion history - 1983 to 2023

Research, science, engineering, team work, international collaboration and visionary thinking - all the hallmarks of JET (Joint European Torus), which celebrates 40 years since its first plasma in June 2023. We’ve taken time to reflect on JET’s journey with some of the key figures here at Culham and at EUROfusion, looking back at a remarkable four decades. Have you worked at JET in that time? What did the experience mean to you? Drop us your memories in the comments below! ----- UKAEA’s mission is to deliver sustainable fusion energy and maximise scientific and economic impact. Fusion, the process that powers the sun, can play a big part in our carbon-free energy future. UKAEA leads the world in fusion research with a wide range of programmes covering robotics, materials testing and development, and tritium science. Our scientists and engineers are working with partners around the globe to develop fusion as a new source of clean energy for tomorrow’s power stations.
